About me

Current

I'm working as a spectroscopist in the Diagnostics team at Tokamak Energy, where we're doing research and development for fusion energy technologies.

Past

I completed my PhD at the York Plasma Institute, University of York in 2018. My work was been funded by the Fusion Centre for Doctoral Training, a collaboration between the Universities of York, Durham, Liverpool, Manchester and Oxford, and my supervisor was Kieran Gibson.

My PhD research was in the field of nuclear fusion. Fusion has the potential to be an excellent source of clean energy, but there are still some key issues to be resolved. See my research page for more information on fusion and my thesis.

As part of the Fusion CDT, I took courses for six months before focusing on my PhD research. The courses cover both the plasma physics and the materials science relevant to fusion, giving a broad background knowledge from which to specialise.

After finishing my PhD, I worked as a tutor for MeriEducation in Los Angeles, working to inspire students with my passion for maths and science.

In 2013, I graduated from St. Catharine's College, University of Cambridge, with a BA and MSci in Natural Sciences (specialising in Experimental and Theoretical Physics).
